This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Karature uses on karature.com: what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you can change your choice. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all, such as the one that remembers what is in your bag. Others help us understand how the site is used. We also keep a few things in your browser's own storage, which works like a cookie but is not sent to us with each visit.

Your choice

Depending on where you are, you may see a banner asking for your choice when you first visit. Where no banner is shown, analytics and marketing cookies are on by default. You can change your choice at any time with the Change cookie settings button at the end of this page.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off, because the site cannot work without them. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings, but if you block the strictly necessary ones, your bag and signing in will stop working.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These keep the site working, so they are always on.

session, set by Karature. Keeps you signed in to your account and protects the sign-in process. Lasts until you close your browser.
cart, set by Karature. Remembers the pieces in your bag as you move around the site. Lasts until you close your browser.
_shopify_essential, set by Shopify, which runs our store. Identifies your device for the things the store needs in order to work, such as security. Lasts one year.
_tracking_consent, set by Shopify. Remembers your cookie choice. Lasts one year.

Analytics

These tell us how the site is used, such as which pages are visited, so we can improve it. They are set by Shopify, and you can switch them off.

_shopify_y. Recognises a returning browser, so visits can be counted. Lasts about one year.
_shopify_s. Groups the pages you view into a single visit. Lasts 30 minutes.
_shopify_analytics. Identifies your device for analytics. Lasts one year.

Marketing

This is set by Shopify, and you can switch it off.

_shopify_marketing. Identifies your device for marketing purposes. Lasts one year.

Stored on your device

These are kept in your browser's storage rather than in cookies. They are not sent to us with each visit, and they stay until you remove them or clear your browser's data for this site.

karature_favs. The pieces you have saved to your favourites. If you are signed in, we also save them to your account so they follow you to other devices.
karature_recent. The pieces you viewed most recently, for the Recently viewed row.
karature_recent_searches. Your recent searches, so the search box can suggest them again.

Advertising partners

Our Privacy Policy names the analytics and advertising partners we work with: Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Pinterest. None of them sets cookies on karature.com's own pages today. If that changes, we will update this page.

Checkout

Checkout runs on Shopify at checkout.karature.com. Shopify sets its own cookies there to process your order and payment securely. You can read about them in Shopify's cookie policy.

Other services

Our fonts load from Google Fonts, and Shopify measures how quickly our pages load. Neither sets a cookie on karature.com, but like any web request, each one receives your device's IP address.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the cookies we use change, and the date at the top will change with it.
